Logical Song (The)

When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful,
a miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical.
And all the birds in the trees, well they’d be singing so happily,
joyfully, playfully watching me.
But then they sent me away to teach me how to be sensible,
logical, responsible, practical.
And they showed me a world where I could be so dependable,
clinical, intellectual, cynical.

There are times when all the world’s asleep,
the questions run too deep
for such a simple man.
Won’t you please, please tell me what we’ve learned
I know it sounds absurd
but please tell me who I am.

Now watch what you say or they’ll be calling you a radical,
liberal, fanatical, criminal.
Won’t you sign up your name, we’d like to feel you’re
acceptable, respectable, presentable, a vegetable!

At night, when all the world’s asleep,
the questions run so deep
for such a simple man.
Won’t you please, please tell me what we’ve learned
I know it sounds absurd
but please tell me who I am

  3. A wonderful song.
I have been trying so hard for the last 7 years, now I’ve lost something very precious to me and with it I lost a part of me. And I don’t really know who am I anymore.. I don’t really want anything of this world. And I don’t think I can figure this out just by sitting around and making mind maps..

I don’t know what exactly should I reach for, I don’t think anything can satisfy this Hunger in me..

  4. This song is really awesome nd so true!
when your younger the world is a beautiful place where your happy and free and every new experience is seen with fresh eyes. But as time goes by
society expects us to act one way and think another and you get so caught up in how they want you to act that sometimes you forget who you are…. what have we learned and who is the real me? why does happiness elude me?

  5. Amazing how deeply true the lyrics ring today, so many years later…
