Get Together

Get Together
The Youngbloods

Love is but a song we sing
And fear’s the way we die.
You can make the mountains ring
Or make the angels cry.
Though the bird is on the wing
And you may not know why.
C’mon people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now
Some will come and some will go
And we shall surely pass.
When the one that left us here
Returns for us at last.
We are but a moment’s sunlight
Fading in the grass.
C’mon people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now
If you hear the song I sing
You will understand (listen)
You hold the key to love and fear
All in your trembling hand.
Just one key unlocks them both
It’s there at your command
C’mon people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now

We need this song and this truth today

  4. This is one song that will never get old to me. Classic!

  5. just to say this is one of the heart where it touches my soul ever time

  6. the greatest anthem for what could have been in this dangerous world we live in

  7. Used with 1 John 1:1-7 text in a sermon message on fellowship

  8. What a great Christmas Song or new year affirmation.

  9. I’m not religious–but this song brings tears to my eyes every time.

  10. Now and then I hear this played, it raises the hair on my arm…takes me back ….

  11. The purity of this concept is what every ‘religious’ icon was saying. Have a nice day!

Wow! Wayne Youngblood, a member of The Youngbloods, is still singing and ministering! He has a ministry in Florida, and also has a website, wayneyoungbloodministries.com! Read and see see and hear what he’s been up to since 1967!

  13. This beautiful song was written by Dino Valenti from Quicksilver Messenger Service

  14. This is probably my favorite song of all time. I am not as religious as I was when this song first came out, but I find the message has just as much or even more meaning for me now than it did then. So c’mon people, smile on your brother and your sister no matter who they are, because we are all in this boat together and we shouldn’t waste our time frowning.

  15. I think the song makes alot of sense. We all should Get together and really try to get along. This is the only world we have so lets make it work.. We should love another always….

  16. every time i feel, together

  17. Don’t listen to those that preach war on terror..MEDIA LIES

  18. THE BEST OF THE BEST SONGS THAT WE SHOULD BE SINGING EVERY SINGLE DAY.

We here on earth for a short time, let’s love each other now for our creator to establish us as his holy people.

  19. I’m glad I found this website. I grew up in the 1960’s and all my life I thought of it as a peace song from the hippie generation and I don’t mean that in a derogatory way. It was a sweet song for a sweet time in my life. I knew the reference to Jesus, but never considered it to be a song totally about a message from God. I see now that of course it is. It’s brought a whole new meaning of the song to me, a new message. It’s no longer just nostalgic, it’s current. Thanks for these comments that all of you posted.

  20. I’ve always thought of this as a Buddhist lyric about the psychology of love and fear. We all return to the One (who left us here). Until then, we’ll come and go (reincarnate).

Every one of us views the universe through the filter of his beliefs.

  21. beautifully said.

  22. The one to me is very clear “when the one that left us here – returns for us at last” he is referring to Jesus Christ. The 2nd coming…

Wow! So actual name of band member is Wayne Youngblood, and singing/ministering in FL. I had thought perhaps Youngbloods was relating to being covered by The Blood of Christ, as new believers. Seems to be some controversy on actual writer. One post says Dino Valenti Q.M.S. I saw other site said Chet Walker? But the message almost directly gleaned from The Great Commandment, Love God, and love others. As Pastor Richard post I thought of 1John chapters 1-4. Even vs. 18 in chapter 4 “perfect love casts out all fear.”
